About
Catherine Rhodes DeWitt began her career on the crew of feature films, documentaries and Austin City Limits, then worked as a video producer, freelance writer and screenplay consultant, before switching her focus to speculative fiction and children's books. She lives in Austin, Texas with her family.
Catherine is currently working on a Young Adult Sci-Fi novel set 200 years in the future on a moon of Jupiter.

October 1, 2024: WLT Manuscript Contest Double-Finalist!
Catherine’s work-in-progress manuscript, Callisto was named a Writers’ League of Texas Manuscript Contest Double-Finalist in the Sci-Fi/Fantasy and Young Adult categories. Callisto will be featured in the WLT Inklist, a catalog of short pitches delivered to an extensive list of literary agents and book editors across the publishing community.

At the recent ArmadilloCon SFFH Conference in Austin, numerous Sci-Fi/Fantasy authors and editors praised their favorite books in the genre. Some are new, others are old favorites they’ve read many times.

May 4, 2024: SCBWI Mentor Award Winner
Catherine won the Austin Society of Children’s Book Writers & Illustrators Cynthia Leitich Smith Writing Mentor Award for novelists, based on the first 10 pages of her upcoming YA Sci-Fi novel, to be mentored by editor Madeline Smoot.
